The problem

Your bid is scattered across four different places.

The plans are in a PDF. Quantities are in a spreadsheet. Material prices are buried in browser tabs. Subcontractor quotes are sitting in email. Then the proposal gets rebuilt by hand at the end.

TakeoffSpeed connects that loop.

Who it's for

Built for small general contractors who still bid the job themselves.

Owner-operators and small GCs with mixed self-performed and subcontracted work. Secondary pages cover solo shops, remodelers, and trade contractors — they do not take over this homepage.

PRIMARY

Small general contractors

One to twenty people. The owner or one estimator still builds the bid from PDF plans, material prices, and sub quotes. See the GC page.

CREW PLAN

Self-performed and subcontracted

Assign SELF vs SUB, send guest RFQ links, and keep quote coverage visible so the same scope is not counted twice.

REVIEWABILITY

Show the work

Page-level evidence, confidence labels, and math-check flags sit on the list so you can audit a count before it hits the bid.

● The truth nobody wants to say

The takeoff is only step one.

Counting the plans is not the end of the work. You still have to price materials, separate your work from subcontracted work, collect quotes, prevent double-counting, and build the proposal.

Most takeoff tools stop after the count. Broad construction software tries to run the company. TakeoffSpeed connects the Plan-to-Bid Loop without a project-management migration.

We will publish measured time and cost ranges after enough real jobs have gone through the product. Until then we will not pretend a Sunday night turns into ten minutes.

The math behind the curtain

AI should not ask you to trust a magic number.

See where the quantity came from, how it was calculated, what the system is confident about, and what still needs human review or a subcontractor quote.

High-confidence line items include a page-level citation (sheet or page evidence). If the list says six GFCI receptacles, you can see which page that count came from.

Frequently asked

Answers from the driver's seat.

How long does a takeoff take?
It depends on the plan set. We do not publish a universal completion time until we have measured real jobs. What you get immediately is a reviewable takeoff with evidence, then pricing, quotes, and a proposal workflow instead of starting from a blank spreadsheet.
What do I get from a takeoff?
Upload a PDF. You get a trade-grouped materials list. High-confidence items include a page-level citation. A math sanity-check pass flags calculation mismatches. After the list, Source can research local retail prices.
What files can I upload?
PDF only. The upload screen caps files at 150 MB; the server rejects anything over 200 MB or more than 100 pages. Split a big permit set by trade or floor if you hit the page cap.
What are the plans and caps?
Solo is $200/mo for 5 successful takeoffs, Crew is $399/mo for 15, Shop is $699/mo for 40. Caps reset each UTC calendar month. Annual billing is 10× monthly (2 months free). Failed runs do not count. Subcontractor RFQs are on Crew and Shop. Pick a plan and pay to start. See pricing.
How does local pricing work?
After the materials list, the Source tab researches live retail prices for selected lines. Verified (priced) lines are matches that passed the verification stage. Budgetary lines are labeled estimates and are not treated as final. Labor is an allowance, not a bid number.
What's the first-takeoff guarantee?
First takeoff guarantee: run your first takeoff — if it doesn't earn its keep, tell us and we'll refund your month.
What's Sunday-Off?
Sunday-Off: still doing manual takeoffs on Sunday night after 30 days? Full refund.
How do I cancel?
Cancel anytime. Billing is managed by Stripe.
Do failed takeoffs count against my cap?
No. Monthly usage is successful takeoffs in the current UTC calendar month: started minus failed. A run that errors out does not burn a slot.
Who is it for?
Small general contractors who bid from PDF plans and mix self-performed work with subcontracted trades. See general contractors.
Do all plans include subcontractor quotes?
No. Solo is for mostly self-performed work. Guest RFQ links and returned quote collection are on Crew and Shop — the full Plan-to-Bid Loop.
